A little bit about me and why Haunted Ladies
I was born and raised in upstate New York, school in New England, lived in California, and currently in England. but I go back and forth. I dated a rower in college who took me to Henley-on-Thames for the Regatta once and I decided to come back after a marketing career and busted marriage. I traded a sunny beach view for the cool wet greens of South Oxfordshire. You’re supposed to put yourself into your writing and draw on your own experiences but I am not exactly the character in my book even though we share a name. I have enough mystery elsewhere and clues may be found.
Great Brinsley Green where my character moved after the death of her father is a fictional place. It is based on a collection of towns and villages within a distance of where I call home. I hope to expand stories to other places in future volumes. I was frightened of ghosts when I was young, and so when I decided to write, I thought I’d confront those issues and something about the four authors in my literary circle seem to have a connection to death. Not so much Jane Austen, who rarely addressed the morbid, but Mary Shelley lived a tragic youth, with the death of her mother in childbirth, the loss of two children in infancy and youth, the suicide of a sister and drowning of her husband. Emily Bronte died young and had a fascination with death through her ill health and death of a brother, and Charlotte with two siblings, so I thought they might have something to say about it from the other side. But I wanted to paint them as lively as they might be living and hope I do them justice.
I live with my English Springer Spaniel, Colonel Mustard, who may or may not find his way into a story, but he’ll provide some clues for the mysteries here online and a mystery himself.
